The Old Town is one of the best places in all of Phuket to try delicious street food. Here you can find anything from authentic Thai cuisine, to Korean, Japanese, and Chinese meals.
After over a month in this area, we found the best value restaurants and tastiest dishes to bring you a delicious list of restaurants and street food vendors.
Here are the best places to eat in Old Town Phuket :
1. Sunday Walking Street Market – the best market in Phuket Old Town
Each Sunday Thalang Road transforms into a massive street food market featuring the freshest local ingredients and unique dishes found only in Phuket. Wonder passed all the vendors, soak in the atmosphere and ask for free samples. This is a true adventure for the taste buds and one of the most lively markets in Southern Thailand.

2. One Chun Cafe & Restaurant – the best authentic food in Phuket Old Town
A family-run restaurant delivering delicious authentic meals. You will spot this restaurant by the hungry Thai crowd that forms around its doors. We ordered the Orange curry soup with Crab meat, a Chicken Yellow curry with rice, deep-fried pork bites, and the best seafood Tom Yum soup we’ve ever tried. At a Mid-range cost of around (THB 1100) including x2 incredible lychee smoothies

3. Chuan Chim – the local favourite in Phuket Old Town:
We have to find food traveller Mark Weins for this find. Specialising in Smokey wok-style sit-fried cooking this restaurant lets its fresh ingredients sing. We ordered pork with Thai basil rice and egg and a salt and peppered flash-fried squid which we washed down with a Milk Tea! Total price – THB 360 for everything

4. Raya – the best local food in Phuket Old Town:
Just around the corner from One Chun Cafe is Raya Restaurant which is owned by the same family. Just like their other restaurant it excels in traditional Phuket style Thai food. You have to try the Moo Hong – slow-cooked belly pork stew (250 THB)

5. Ko Ang Seafood – the best seafood in Phuket Old Town:
Here you will find all the seafood you love and then some more you never even knew existed. The freshest seafood ingredients are paired with traditional noodles, rice and soup dishes that are simply delicious. We loved everything but crab with glass noodles was very special for just THB 200

6. Roti Taew Nam – The best Roti :
This is the tastiest Roti I’ve had outside of India. Pair a crispy and soft Roti with a range of Southern Thai curries or just a perfectly cooked egg for a beautiful breakfast in Old Town Phuket.

7. Limelight Avenue Food Court – best selection of Thai Dishes:
Another favourite with Phuket locals for its deliciousness and cheap price point. There are over 15 stalls to choose from and many are featured on the Michelin guide! This is not to be missed, especially if you are on a budget.
8. Go La – The best noodles near Phuket Old Town:
This 3rd generation family-run restaurant specialises in Hokkien-style fried noodles. Although it’s located just outside Phuket Old Town it’s worth the short work. They specialise in Hokkien Noodles a thick yellow noodle cooked in thick soy sauce with succulent pork, squid, fish cakes, and cabbage as the main ingredients. Price – 60 THB ($1.99) per bowl

What’s the local street food like in Phuket?
The cuisine of Phuket has strong influences from China, India and Malaysia yet traders from Persia, Arabia, Indonesia and even Portugal brought unique spices, recipes and cooking styles to form this spectacular cuisine.
According to a Phuket-born chef, it was influenced mainly by Chinese Hokkien cuisine, then by Muslims from India and Malaysia.
Phuket was once a port of call, routinely seeing traders from Persia, Arabia, Indonesia, and Portugal. Each of these traders brought with them spices, recipes, and cooking techniques that helped shape Phuket Thai cuisine.
